Average Salary Year

The avergae salary data is based on the the Annual Survey for Hours and Earnings (ASHE) which uses a 1% sample of employee jobs, drawn from HM Revenue and Customs Pay As You Earn (PAYE) records.

Average Salaries for 2020 (based on the Annual Survey for Hours and Earnings (ASHE) 2020) relate to the pay period that includes 22 April 2020, at which time approximately 8.8 million employees were furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS); the average salaries include furloughed employees and are based on actual payments made to the employee from company payrolls and the hours on which this pay was calculated, which in the case of furloughed employees are their usual hours.
