Disability amount (for self)

Line 316 Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is an amount claimed as a deduction due to your own disability.

You can claim the amount of $7,899 if you are eligible for Disability Tax Credit (DTC) on line 316 of your tax return.

You can also request adjustments for previous years (up to 10) if you were eligible for DTC but did not claim it.

In this case you need to complete form T1-ADJ T1 Adjustment Request for each year you wish to claim for.

To qualify for DTC you need to have a medical practitioner certify your disability on form T2201

The amount of $7,899 is applicable if you were 18 years old or older at the end of the year, otherwise complete the table below:
