Torque Calculator

Torque is generally any force that causes rotation, it can be thought of as a twist to an object.

For example, a Torque wrench is a type of wrench with a gauge attached to indicate the torque applied.

Unit Value Unit of Measurement
Unit of Measurement descriptions
Force The newton (N) is the International System of Units (SI) derived unit of force. It is the force needed to accelerate 1 kilogram of mass at the rate of 1 metre per second squared
Distance The metre or meter (American spelling), (SI unit symbol: m), is the fundamental unit of length in the International System of Units (SI). Since 1983 it has been defined as the distance travelled by light in a certain defined fraction of a second.
Torque The newton metre is a unit of torque in the SI system. One Newton Metre is equal to the torque resulting from a force of one newton applied perpendicularly to a moment arm which is one metre long.

You can refine the calculations by controlling the number of decimal places that the calculator calculates to. The default is 2 decimal places.

To find the conversion factor, locate the cell that matches the force row and distance column

For example, the conversion factor for Pounds Force - Foot is 1.3558 Newton metres, to 4 decimal places
